Day One!
Today is the official start of my 101 in 1001 exercise. My plan is to keep up a steady pace on the minor items on the list, and plan ahead for the more significant items on the list. Today I made headway in 3 of the 101.
42. Read 50 books that I have not read before: I started reading volume 36 of the 33 1/3 series, Loveless by Mike McGonigal. I should have it finished by the weekend.
51. Save $1 cash each day for 1001 days: I grabbed $10 today when I went to Target. I'm going to save the cash in chunks rather than in single dollar bills, as it will be more convenient over time. My total is up to $10 at this point.
57. Clean out my anime Collection: Over the years, I have collected a number of anime DVDs. My interest in anime has waned recently, so I'm selling off my more esoteric titles on eBay and Amazon. I'll keep my favorite series and movies, but the vast majority of the collection has to go. At this point they are just collecting dust.
Today I have already sold off 3 titles, with bids on 5 more. This list item should be completed pretty quickly at this pace.

Oh yes, the rules.
The Mission:
Complete 101 preset tasks in a period of 1001 days.
The Criteria:
Tasks must be specific (ie. no ambiguity in the wording) with a result that is either measurable or clearly defined. Tasks must also be realistic and stretching (ie. represent some amount of work on my part).
Why 1001 Days?
Many people have created lists in the past - frequently simple goals such as new year's resolutions. The key to beating procrastination is to set a deadline that is realistic. 1001 Days (about 2.75 years) is a better period of time than a year, because it allows you several seasons to complete the tasks, which is better for organising and timing some tasks such as overseas trips or outdoor activities.

So there it is...
There's the list. Some of the items on there are a bit ambitious, but I wanted to stay away from what I consider to be the "weaker" goals that I've seen in other 101 in 1001 lists.
Everything is within the realm of reality, but some will take far more work than others.
My start date is my 30th birthday, and the end is just before Thanksgiving of 2009.
I'll post my progress here, and willstrike out the items on the list as I complete them.

New new new...
This blog is going to be a side project from my Livejournal.
The focus of this blog is to track my progress on my personal "101 Things in 1001 Days".
As I begin or accomplish a task, I'll make whatever comments are appropriate at the time. For now I'll be very vague, since this project is very nebulous right now.
